ASSET MAPPING project
Goal
Working with the Fenway CDC, The primary goal of this project is to understand resources, relationships and structures within the community as a vehicle for transformation. In this role I assumed the role of community cartographer(s), focused on identifying the resources that are present in the community. Strategies include community exploration, internet research, surveys, media analysis, GIS analysis, etc. to create an internal tool (interactive map, database, etc.) to visualize the landscape of neighborhood actors, both spatially and programmatically.

Major PROJECT
Create an interactive map/database, to visualize the landscape of neighborhood actors, both spatially and programmatically. Our team is utilizing google maps to develop tools for the Fenway CDC and the community to navigate what is currently existing in the community and what is needed. The development includes three types of asset mapping utilizing technology and research: (1) Individual Mapping: Identify individuals with connections or capacity to lead change within the community (e.g. elected officials, school principals, police commissioners, pastors). (2) Civic Association Mapping: Identify platforms for civic engagement and participation (e.g. housing boards, youth groups, clubs). - (3) Institution Mapping: Identify public/quasi-public/non-profit institutions within the community (e.g. schools, libraries, hospitals).

Fenway Snow Emergency | This map highlights emergency parking, routes and homeless shelters that are accessible to the Fenway community in the event of an extreme Snow Emergency.
Civic Engagement & Community Organizing Map | This map contains civic engagement and community organization resources. Civic Engagement includes platforms for civic engagement and participation (e.g. housing boards, youth groups, clubs).
Fenway Family Resources | This map contains services for local Families in the Fenway area including Trash Pick up days, Boston Public Schools, Non-Public Boston Schools, Boston Public Libraries, Necessities, Grocery Store, Laundry Maps, Pharmacies, Health and fitness centers, hospitals and clinics, Resident Services and programs and Affordable Housing.
Fenway Professional Development Map | This a map that contains resources for professional development such as institutions, public libraries, and formal and informal learning opportunities in the Fenway area.
Fenway Resident Map | This map contains services provided to households such as affordable housing, green spaces, community events, recreation areas, and other places of human occupancy in the Fenway Area!
Community Mapping Final Report | The final report includes the details of the project and further project plans. This project is only a baseline for the next interns to continue.
